Having a positive organisational culture is important for us in Dumfries and Galloway, so important that our values and ideal culture are a key part of everyone’s appraisal, training and development. When staff feel happy, well informed and well trained we know the outcomes for people using our services are also much better.
Our Core Values underpin our work, and we know that a positive and constructive organisational culture helps us maintain these values and be our best selves.

Three thousand staff took part in a study of our organisational culture to determine what an ideal culture would look like.
We have continuously been reviewing this and engaging with staff to achieve this by:
- Combining our skills and knowledge and working together
- Recognising and celebrating each other’s achievements
- Supporting each other to achieve our potential
- Recognising that we all have a positive contribution to make within our teams and the wider organisation
