ADDITIONAL COVID-19 testing opportunities are being added in the region next week – as an increase in cases is recorded across Scotland.
Extra testing availability for people without symptoms of the coronavirus is being added in Stranraer and Kelloholm, as part of efforts to pick up any cases which might develop within the region.
Public Health Consultant Andrew Rideout said: “We are seeing an increase in cases of COVID-19 in Scotland, with almost an additional 1000 being recorded today.
“This is not unexpected, and we’re very conscious that the new Delta Variant is particularly transmissible.
“We’re still working to provide everyone with two vaccinations against COVID, providing the best defence against that variant.
“While that work continues, the best means of defending against the coronavirus is to continue following the national guidance and taking up opportunities for regular testing.
“Testing is available for anyone, whether or not they have symptoms, and ahead of next week we’ve taken the step of making more opportunities available in the west of the region and in Upper Nithsdale.
“We’d encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities, to take up the chance of a vaccination when this is offered to them.
“Full details on all testing opportunities can be found at the website www.nhsdg.co.uk/testing/
