NHS Dumfries and Galloway Anti-Racism Plan, 2025-2028
The NHS Dumfries and Galloway Anti-Racism Plan has been developed in response to the Scottish Government’s requirement for every NHS Board to have an anti-racism plan.
Our Plan has been developed based on local research undertaken with our ethnic minority colleagues and national evidence, in partnership with ethnic minority staff. It aims to proactively address racism and the systems and behaviours that continue it.
Our Anti-Racist approach is part of our wider Anti-Oppression commitment to all those who experience inequality because of their identity. Being actively Anti-Racist means we acknowledge the impacts of racism in our own organisation and are conscious of how racism can be perpetuated through organisational culture, power and privilege.
Ethnic minority staff play a vital role in NHS Dumfries and Galloway. We have a diverse workforce and we employ colleagues from over 50 countries across the world. Without these staff, we would not be able to deliver the care we aspire to for people across the region.
Our Anti-Racism journey is essential if we are to have a diverse and inclusive organisation where everyone feels safe and valued and can give their best in the workplace.
