NHS Dumfries & Galloway

Appointment of Chair to Dumfries and Galloway NHS Board

Why should you consider being an NHS Chair?

Chair roles are not for the faint of heart, they are challenging but can also be one of the most fulfilling roles you will undertake.  Joining an NHS Scotland Health Board as a Chair is a fantastic opportunity to affect change, to help set future direction and achieve the NHS vision, “for people to live longer, healthier lives at home or in a homely setting.”

As a Chair for NHS Dumfries and Galloway, you will have opportunities to make a real difference for the community you serve. You will support the strategic vision through governance functions to ensure innovation and sustainable services of high quality that are person centred, safe and effective.

The role itself has 4 key elements;

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Understanding of Scotland’s health and social care context and environment
  • Governance and Accountability
  • Constructive/Supportive Challenge and Influencing

Each one of these supports the organisation to navigate challenges and strive for the best outcomes for the community. Underpinning these are the NHS Scotland Values that set out the culture and vision;

  • Care and compassion
  • Dignity and respect
  • Openness, honesty and responsibility; and,
  • Quality and teamwork.

If you are looking for a challenging and fulfilling role, why not check out the current Chair roles.
