The Magic of Dance!
An evening of international dance welcomed new NHS staff from over 17 different countries who are now working across Dumfries and Galloway.
The event was held at the Multicultural Association in Dumfries with over 120 participants.
There was a variety of dance from Indian Bollywood Style, American Swing to Scottish Country Dancing.
Everyone provided food from there home country so everyone was able to taste the exquisite cuisine from other Countries.
What a fantastic night had by everyone. new dances learnt and new friends made all in the name of dance.
Occupational Therapy Recruitment Event
During the month of March the Workforce Sustainability Team joined forces with AHP – Occupational Therapy, Acute, Mental Heath and Community and held a Recruitment Drive for Newly Qualified OT and those looking for a change in their career path.
We had a fantastic response from our Social Media Campaign, and working closely with Universities across the region. We even had a visitor from Leicester!
Acute, Community and Mental Health were able to show case their job families to the maximum, as well as our visitors learning about NHS Dumfries & Galloway and our beautiful surrounding areas.
A great day was had by all.
New Ophthalmology Department
The long awaited spacious ophthalmology unit comprises modern consulting rooms, bright and relaxing waiting areas for patients, and for staff an improved clinical working environment and dedicated change and rest areas.
Two weeks before opening day the ophthalmology team at Mountainhall gathered to bid a fond farewell to Ward 17 (former Ophthalmology Unit) and to celebrate the new.
Retired and former staff attended the event making it even more of a momentous occasion. Among the guests were clerical staff, nursing staff, and doctors Bedford, Power and Stoddart.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Moffat Surgery is seeking to recruit competent and confident qualified Advanced Practitioners who meet the person specification and are keen and motivated to work in this role. Primary/Community Care experience is desirable. Induction to the organisation and service will be provided.
Two posts are being offered as full-time which is 37.5 hours per week and are permanent posts. We welcome opportunities for flexible working or less than full-time if that suits your circumstances and meet the needs of our service.

Community Mental Health Nurse
An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurse (Band 6) to join the Wigtownshire Unscheduled Care Mental Health Nursing Team working as an integral member of the Multi Disciplinary Team.
This is an exciting post in which the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients within Wigtownshire in Dumfries and Galloway who present in acute mental health crisis. The post holder will provide recommendation, advice and interventions to support people during periods of acute crisis.

Consultant Clinical Psychologist - Intellectual Disabilities
An opportunity has arisen to develop specialist Intellectual Disability Psychology provision for children and adults in NHS Dumfries and Galloway. This post will require an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Applied Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) to develop and enhance this service for those with intellectual disabilities, their families and carers.
This post will be instrumental in working with multi-agency partners to support this client group. Locally services for people with complex needs are a strategic priority and this post-holder will be instrumental in driving forward change.
Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
We have full time, permanent post vacancies for 2WTEs. These community based posts are suitable for both experienced Band 5 therapists and current Band 6 SLTs as we can offer excellent opportunities to develop and extend your clinical skills with CYPs across abroad range of speech, language and communication difficulties.
Ongoing support and training is available through your individualised job plan. Operational, Professional and Clinical supervision are key aspects of the service and you would have an Annual Development Review and mentorship.

Advanced Practitioner Podiatry
We are looking for a passionate, motivated and resourceful Podiatrist to develop and lead the Early Intervention, Preventative Care and Minor Surgery for our team. We anticipate the successful applicant will have significant clinical experience working at a specialist podiatry Band 6 level including education, nail surgery, wound care and the management of complex patients.
As an advanced practice Podiatrist you will have the opportunity to develop your own clinical skills in this area of podiatry, as well as supporting the development of others. The post holder will act as a role model, to ensure that robust procedures and high standards of clinical care, quality improvement and safety are in place.
