Welcome to our Dental Social Network landing page. Whether you are new to the region or you have been working in Dental Services for a while we would be delighted if you considered joining our group of Dental professionals.
Our aim was to build a community of dentists across our Public, Hospital and General Dental Services to socialise together so no one need feel isolated or not able to find their people. In a transient world where communities are growing but the “community spirit” is often seen to be shrinking we wanted to create a safe space where like minded professionals could socially meet up and put the world to rights.
We try not to talk about work as we all appreciate our need to a better work life balance however sometimes the best ideas and collaboration comes through informal discussion so we actually see a huge advantage to coming together informally.
What it involves
We have over 30 colleagues across our region signed up to a Whats App group, where we suggest ideas for meet ups.
How much you engage is up to you. We appreciate not everyone can do certain days or evenings which is why we encourage everyone to pop in suggestions and times that suit you.
To date we have been out for meals, tried different wellbeing activities such as Yoga followed by lunch, wreath making at Christmas or just met on a sunny day for a long walk or a couple of drinks in a local cafe or bar.
Whatever we do we try to have fun. Many of us have returned to the region after studying and working elsewhere in the UK and some of us have never left the region. What we all have in common is our love for Dumfries and Galloway, its beautiful coastlines and its proximity to the larger cities in Scotland and England if we want to have a day out of the region.
My Name is Martin, I used to work in Dumfries for 3 years before moving away. I have returned for 2 days a week and it’s great to be able to join a what’s app chat to get to know colleagues in the region and meet up .
How to Join
To join our whats app group, simply email our Public Dental team dg.pcd-businesssupport@nhs.scot with the following information so we can verify you are a Dentist working in the region
- Full Name
- Mobile number
- Dental Practice or Service
- What you would like to get out of joining the whats app so we can do an intro for you if needed or you are welcome to introduce yourself if you prefer
- What part of the region you are living
Your details will only be used for the purpose of verifying you work in the region and adding you to the whats app group for the purpose of socialisation.
