The Health and Social Care Partnership LGBT+ Staff Network provides an opportunity for LGBT+ staff to connect, support each other and be part of a collective voice for positive change.

We’re a friendly bunch who work collaboratively to agree aims and projects and meet every month to take forward plans and actions.

You don’t have to attend meetings to be part of the LGBT+ Network. Being part of our mailing list enables members to keep up to date with planned activities and have their voices heard in Network decisions via email.

We offer the opportunity for members to share experiences, develop knowledge and support.  In the last year this has included a presentation ‘LGBT+ in Poland’ and regular discussion during meetings about the experiences and concerns of members.

We plan the odd social get together too!

We are proud that we have used our collective voice to make the NHS a more inclusive place for LGBT+ people, recently resulting in change around unnecessary gendering on digital ward boards, the use of faith based venues and values based recruitment.  We raise concerns and share opportunities to improve the workplace experience for LGBT+ people with leaders across the Health and Social Care Partnership through input at Leadership Group meetings and the NHS Dumfries & Galloway Staff Governance Committee.

Network members are also keen to raise awareness around the experiences of LGBT+ people and increase allies, in particular during key events across the year such as LGBT History Month, Transgender Day of Visibility and Pride Month.  We’ve provided input into Transgender Awareness Training and the revised Equality and Diversity Mandatory Training.

We’ve enjoyed being out and about across the region, promoting the Network, raising awareness about the experiences of LGBT+ people and promoting the Pride Badge Pledge to over 200 allies.
