Women’s Staff Network

Our vision is for women working across Dumfries & Galloway Health and Social Care Partnership, to experience a positive work environment where they feel valued, included and free from discrimination.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Network is to:

  • Provide members with a community of support
  • Provide a safe space to share experiences with other members
  • Enable members to be part of a collective voice to influence positive change, promote inclusion and challenge discrimination

Our Aims

Wellbeing, Connection and Development

  • To be an inclusive group, working within agreed principles (our Ways of Working), to support staff
  • To influence our organisation to ensure that all staff have the opportunity to be involved in shaping our culture, acting as internal advisers to our organisation,
  • To challenge discrimination and inequalities and promote diversity and equality of opportunity.
  • To increase awareness of the experiences of women working across Health and Social Care and engage the workforce to take positive action
  • To use evidence and analysis to challenge the existing systemic problems that affect our members and communities
  • To propose practical and positive solutions
  • To provide opportunities for staff development, networking, recruitment, progression and feedback
  • To improve services for the diverse communities we serve
  • To ensure that our aims and objectives are aligned with those of our organisations

How to get involved

Our Women’s Network is growing year on year and we welcome anyone identifying as a woman who is currently employed or studying within our Health and Social Care Partnership.  The Health and Social Care Leadership Group encourage members’ managers to release them for one hour each month to attend Staff Network meetings and we’ll get in touch with your manager, with your permission, about this if you would like us to.

There’s a Women’s Network meeting every 6 weeks on Teams; these meetings focus on taking forward the business of the Network.  If you’re interested in playing an active role, we’d love your input into the meetings.  There are also opportunities to get involved in our executive committee if you would like to.

We also offer regular ‘Let’s Talk’ sessions on Teams, which are opportunities for members to get together and chat informally around a particular theme.

The Network also offers additional opportunities to get together to participate in learning opportunities and wellbeing and social events and to get involved  in activities aimed at  improving  the workplace for women. You may feel too busy to participate in Network meetings or that our social and learning events are not for you at the moment.  Many of our members choose simply to receive regular updates via our mailing list, to keep abreast of what’s going on.
