A call is now being made for young people aged 12 to 17 to attend one of the drop-in clinics in the region in order to receive their second COVID-19 vaccination.
At the current time, simply turning up to one of these scheduled clinics is the only means by which people within this age range will be able to receive their second jag.
This is because scheduled appointments are unfortunately not possible at this time for this age group.
Cases of COVID-19 have increased very significantly in Dumfries and Galloway over the last few weeks. In the week ending Sunday January 12 there were 2906. The virus is present across communities, and risk of exposure is very high.
What is known to be making a very big difference to the health outcomes from COVID-19 is vaccination.
This is why we would strongly encourage you to consider taking up the chance to be as fully vaccinated as possible against COVID.
If you are 12-17, you must do this by attending one of the following listed vaccination clinics. If under 18 you must be at least 12 weeks from your first dose, and 12 weeks clear of any COVID infection.
For adults aged 18 plus, vaccinations can be obtained through the drop-ins or by booking through the national portal at https://vacs.nhs.scot/csp or calling the free number 0800 030 8013
