LESS than five new cases of COVID-19 were identified in Dumfries and Galloway in the week ending April 4 – down from 29 in the previous week.  And less than five close contacts were identified and asked to self-isolate – down from 97 the week before.  NHS Dumfries and Galloway Chief Executive Jeff Ace said:

A total of 16 new positive COVID-19 cases were identified in the region in the week ending March 21. This was a move back down in terms of numbers, following an increase to 32 the previous week. As a result of these new cases, 79 close contacts were advised to self-isolate – down from 117.

An increase was recorded in the number of new COVID cases in the region last week. In the week ending March 14 there were 32 new positive cases, up from 21 the week before. A total of 117 new close contacts were identified and advised to self-isolate, up considerably on 68 in the previous week.
