NHS Dumfries and Galloway Board considers draft Annual Delivery Plan

NHS DUMFRIES and Galloway’s Board has reviewed a Draft Annual Delivery Plan (ADP) for 2025/26, setting out priorities aimed at improving healthcare services, enhancing accessibility, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

At the same time, the Board has formally endorsed the Scottish Government’s NHS Renewal programme.

It calls on Boards to work differently – with much greater collaboration – sharing resources and expertise to provide better care and improve patient outcomes.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway Interim Chair Marsali Caig said: “The collaboration between Health Boards will be key in delivering the improvements we all want to see.

“By working together, we can share knowledge, streamline services, and ultimately provide a better healthcare experience.”

In support of this approach, the NHS Board formally endorsed a paper from NHS Scotland Executive Group confirming how Health Boards will work collaboratively, sharing resources and expertise to provide better care and improve patient outcomes.

Board members studied the Draft Annual Delivery Plan for 2025/26, touching on key areas such as developing sustainable models of care, financial recovery, and enhancing patient experience.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway Chief Executive Julie White said: “Our focus remains on delivering high-quality care in a way that is sustainable, person-centred, and responsive to the needs of our communities.”

Key priorities under consideration include:

  • Strengthening service sustainability through new models of care
  • Ensuring financial stability through an agreed recovery plan
  • Promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity to support staff wellbeing and retention
  • Advancing modernisation efforts in infrastructure, fleet, and buildings to support Net Zero goals
  • Working collaboratively to improve population health and reduce health inequalities

The NHS Board will make a final decision on the ADP at its meeting in June, following further discussions and refinements.

Julie White added: “This draft plan reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in healthcare delivery.

“We will continue to engage as we work to refine our approach.”
