NHS Dumfries and Galloway encourage all new out of area and overseas candidates to sign up to get a welcome ambassador. This programme of support is available for all our Health and Social Care partners in the region.
The programme works by pairing up new or existing staff who have come from out of the area and feeling a lost, overwhelmed or just need a friendly chat with some one with similar circumstances, background or culture. We try to encourage as many staff new staff to either sign up to have a Welcome ambassador and later become an Ambassador themselves.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway want to be come an employer of choice and to do that it is important their staff feel looked after and happy both in and out of work. We can only achieve this by working together and creating a sense of community that already exists so strongly in our region. Signing up to be an ambassador can be rewarding for the following reasons
- you know you have made a positive impact on someone else’s life and that of their family
- you have hopefully helped us retain new staff to region by supporting their relocation
- you have made a positive contribution to the running of our organisation and wider sector which will contribute towards your personal development
- You may make great friends from the expereince
- You will have the opportunity to learn something new about different cultures we recruit from
To become a welcome ambassador you should speak with your line manager and email the Workforce Sustainability team at dg.jobs@nhs.scot. (The click me button below may not work on an NHS D&G work computer and will need to be manually entered into your email address bar)

- How to sign up to staff networks
- Join our Facebook social pages
- Access our relocation information on housing, schools
- Access to additional training specifically for international staff
Each month on the last Wednesday of the month, the desk will be manned by someone from the Workforce Sustainability team who will answer any questions our new to the region staff may have.
Don’t forget to pop by and say hi to the team and tell us how you are settling in. We love a photo opportunity.
