Post Event Support Team (PETS)
Who are we?
We are a team of psychologists and clinicians who have been trained in ways to support teams after distressing events take place.
When do we become involved?
We are available on request from teams to run reflective support sessions. These would usually occur 1-3 weeks after the event, once the team have had time to begin to process what has happened.
We are then able to sign post to further help if needed.
What do we do?
We are there specifically for the welfare of the team and the individual members therein. We run reflective sessions for the whole team involved in the process, concentrating on the effects of the event on the individual and the team.
The sessions will normally be facilitated by a clinical member of staff alongside a psychologist. Where this is not possible, two members of clinical staff may facilitate.
What don’t we do?
We are not there to judge an event or have an opinion on the clinical course. The sessions are neither root cause analyses nor SAERs.
